In 1928 Lewis Lehmer opened the Golden West Service Station at the corner of Galindo Street and Cowell Road in Concord, California. With the help of his son Erv Lehmer, they began to market used cars. Their business attracted the attention of General Motors, and in 1936 Erv became Contra Costa County's first Oldsmobile dealer. Erv was only 23 years old at the time. Erv expanded the business by adding the GMC Franchise in 1938. By 1951, Lehmer’s had outgrown their facility, and a new dealership was constructed in the heart of Downtown Concord. Over the decades, the City of Concord has grown dramatically. Lehmer’s has played an important part in this growth and continues to draw customers from throughout the bay area. To keep pace with the growing market, Lehmer's constructed its new, state of the art facility on Concord's Auto Row. The building was completed in June of 2006. Lehmer’s contines to be a family operation. Erv Lehmer's daughter, Carolyn Anderson has been the dealer since 1987. Erv also has three grandchildren that are actively involved in managing the dealership. Since Erv Lehmer's passing in 2004, Lehmer's has committed to honor a legacy that began nearly eighty years ago. This legacy includes a commitment to serving our customers, our employees and the community. We are proud to say we are Concord's oldest family-owned business. With your continued loyalty, we look forward to serving you and our community for many years to come.
